The miniature dot pattern on this pillow is one of the most prized for kimono silk. Because of the very, very small dots, placed very, very close together, any tuni misalignment in the pattern is visible from far away. The great skill necessary to dye this pattern makes it highly valued. The alternating stripe pattern that accompanies it is completely different, but they both share a blue stone color common in Japanese palettes.

The stencilled, raw silk on the back is from another kimono I deconstructed. I call this an "anthology" pattern because it uses a repeating tile pattern to frame and assemble a wide variety of small scale komon stencil patterns (as well as one shibori tie dye motif) in one textile.

The insert is feather and down, and the dimensions are 20" x 20."
