Part of the Pearl Harbor series of Pacific War coats, Item B37 is made from a WW2 era US army blanket and Japanese kimono silk from the same period. This item has been remade from a previous iteration, repurposing these textiles for a second time. I deconstructed the earlier collar, and created a patchwork underlayer that reveals the call numbers of the USS Arizona, which was torpedoed and sunk by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Exploring a new method of fastening, I created a felt strap that cinches the front panels through one of two optional felt loops. Topstitched darts inside the arms and shoulders shape the coat forward and make arm movements easier and more comfortable.

Body length is 29" and sleeve length is 24." The dress form has a size 40 chest.
