I deconstructed a vintage Japanese happi coat to make this quilted bomber jacket. The original graphics and writing all got spliced together when I created the piecework top for the coat. The fabrics are all cotton and resist-dyed with plant indigo using stencils.

I used a dead stock linen quilt for the lining, and to attach the top piece I used a squiggle pattern inspired by a vintage US Air Force jacket liner. I then used scraps of a vintage indigo-hemp kimono fabric to make the taping for the cuffs, hem, and collar. There is one interior pocket on the left side. The length is 24," the sleeves are 31." and the dress form has a 40" chest.
