This kimono-style jacket is made from Japanese hemp dyed with plant indigo. I repurposed the textile from a vintage Japanese hitoe kimono, which shows wear and fading. It has a small ikat pattern, and the fabric will crease and soften with wear.

The sleeve edges are unhemmed and expose the selvedge of the loomed fabric. None of the seams are serged. They are either exposed selvedge or felled seams.

The length is 25," the width is 24," and the sleeves are 20" long. The dress form has a 39" chest and a 32" waist.
