All the edges of this extra-long scarf are all selvedge edges from the vintage, loomed kimono silk. And because the selvedge is so wide, it creates an interesting bordered effect. I cut all of the patchwork pieces in this scarf on the bias, and I like the way the lightweight silk fringes at the seams.

Because of its age, this fabric it was challenging to work with, and I added many additional patches as the piece progressed. A hand-sewn, mended patch from the original kimono I deconstructed remains on one of the silk pieces. Any discoloration or damage is due to the vintage nature of the fabric.

The length is 88" and the width ranges from 11- 15."
