Unlike the other pants I've made, this pair uses fabric from only one vintage Japanese happi coat. Also, they have only one vertical seam: where the two front panels join. Otherwise, all piecework has diagonal seaming, and as a result, inserting the slash pockets was a bit tricky.

The large, wavy, stenciled stripes are rare for a happi coat, and, when repurposed for these pants, they create a pattern that was totally unexpected. The fabric is a lighter weight twill with various repairs, patchings, and some small remaining holes.

The adjustable ties accommodate waistlines in the 31-35" range. The irregular, unhemmed bottoms of the pant legs can be rolled and worn at a cropped length.
