This is the second quilted kimono coat I made. I used vintage Japanese fabrics from two happi coats for the piecework. With this piece I juxtaposed the circular mon and stripes traditional to these festival coats. All the fabrics are cotton and dyed with plant indigo, and the edges of some stenciled motifs (that would have been hidden in seams or under the collar) are visible in many places. 

Ties allow the front to be worn closed, and there are two interior pockets made from happi coat fabrics as well. The length is 28" and the sleeves are 24." The dress form has a 40" chest.
